A Book to Help With Hiking and Your Little Ones
So here you are, a hiking enthusiast, and loving every minute of it. You and your loved one holding hands and enjoying the outdoors. Then comes the kids! Oh no, now you have to slow down and stop doing all of the things you loved. Nope! Even though you have a little one (or ones) you can still enjoy being outdoors. The best part is you can get your children excited about the environment too. “Hike It Baby” (by Shanti Hodges) is a great book that gives you tons of ideas about hiking in general, and places to go with your little ones.
On the cover of the book, it reads “100 awesome outdoor adventures with babies and toddlers”. As you can see, they give you a ton of ideas! Whether you are a beginner or an expert, this book gives you exactly what you need to have a great experience. Think of this book as a good friend that has been to many trails and other places to hike. They have written down notes for you so that you know exactly what to expect when going to those specific places. Maybe one place has a tough terrain and another is great for children. What a great resource!
Before you set out to an unknown area, check this awesome book to see if it is child-friendly. There is nothing more frustrating than heading out and traveling with a little one, only to get there and have to turn back because it is too hard for them! Traveling with kids takes enough patience. Why add to the stress with the unknown.
How wonderful is it to see your children embrace the outdoors and love it as much as you do? Especially in this day and age of the video games, social media, and every other technological gadget. Even children as young as 3 can get used to playing with Mom or Dad’s phone. It is such a sad thing for me to see when they could be spending time outside and learning!
We live in a big, beautiful world with so many wonderful mysteries. Let’s teach our kids (when they are little) to appreciate nature and how lucky we really are.
